At SoCal Whale Watching we believe that direct engagement and experience with our natural environment leads to a deeper connection and the desire to conserve and protect. Adventure is letting go of preconceptions and setting forth into an experience that puts one face to face with raw nature. That is our mission.

Captain Steve grew up on the water, living aboard boats from the age of 3 and standing his first offshore overnight watch at 12 years old. Throughout his life he’s been obsessed with the wonder of the ocean and the life within. From a childhood spent wearing a mask and snorkel, to a career sailing, building and skippering boats up and down the west coast, Steve has gathered a trove of stories, experience and knowledge. 

“When I see my guests experience the pure joy of playful dolphins, the awe of the largest whales in the ocean, or the wonder of a once in a lifetime interaction, it really fills me with that sense of purpose I’d wish on anyone!”
